Maximize Your Internal Social Network with Digital Signage

In house social networks are becoming must haves for organizations looking to engage their employees in a modern way beyond email and intranet.

An Aerva digital signage client recently reached out asking how to increase visibility of their internal social network. We created a real time widget to integrate their social network with the existing internal communications messaging that was already being managed on their digital displays (along with other widgets for real time weather, RSS, and Twitter feeds).

This was just the beginning, as we have now had many other conversations with clients that are building their internal social networks with tools such as YammerChatter, and Jive.

Some organizations have built their own homegrown solutions such as Mitre’s “Handshake”, which is both an internal and external collaboration tool (and highly innovative!) Calendering features is another benefit of internal social networks being integrated with their digital displays- eliminating the need of daily printing/posting of conference room availability.

Internal social networks are to Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook as intranets are to public websites. An internal social network is a business-minded network, and in many situations provides an avenue to connect employees from around the globe. These internal platforms also provide a flattening of an organization as workers are able to share information faster and across the traditional barriers in the company hierarchy.
